My girlfriend and I just bought a car off of Craigslist from a guy in west Seattle for $5,500 cash. There was a fake (unbeknownst to us at the time) invoice for a repaired head gasket, and a title with a woman's name on it - he said it was his wife. I later called the woman (her contact info was on the maintenance records) and she said she had sold it with a bad head gasket to a guy the week before for $2,700.
