Cars & Transport

I paid $2069.00 for a rebuilt transmission from AAMCO for my 1981 Mercedes 450SL 6.9. When I got it back, it was shifting very hard. When I took it back, he said it could be related to the vacuum of the car, because it was running good but not perfect, it would slightly stall on take-off. When I got the fuel-injection fixed 3 days later, I took it back and told them it was running perfect but still shifting too hard. They had it for another week, and could not figure it out. Finally, they ordered a new kit, this time from mercedes, and installed it, when rebuilding it the second time, they realized the first transmission kit they had ordered had a re-lined transmission band (supposed to have all new bands in that expensive kit) instead of all new ones which HAVE to be changed when doing this transmission.

They finally fixed it all up after two weeks. When it was happening, I was pretty mad, so I found this site. The stories on this site made me even more apprehensive.

The reason I am telling this story is get people to stick with the situation, don't get all emotional or threatening, and things may work out as well as they did for me.
