Ripoff not standing behind their defective engines

I bought a 1998 Ford F150 new. The truck has 90,000 miles on it. I drove it on Sunday it was fine except for a rough idle. Started on Monday evening and it was making a terrible loud knocking noise. I shut it off quickly. Had a mechanic look at it and he said to tow it to the dealership to have it checked. We have taken excellent care of the truck, there was no reason for something like this to happen other than poor manufacturing. Before I took it to the dealership I got online to see if there were any complaints like this. There was a website called Leakingfords.com that described my problem to a tee. It said the 4.2 v6 engines had bad gaskets and coolant would get in the oil if not changed. They recalled some in 1997 but 1998 knowing that engines were going to blow up if the gasket weren't changed. I had the truck towwed to the dealership they said they hadn't heard of this or any recalls. They called 2 hours later and said a rod went thru the oil pan. They could fix it for $5000.00. I called ford theysaid the truck was out of warranty and there was not anything they could do. They knew this was a ongoing problem but they don't care about the consumer. If no recall they could have at least sent out warnings. All they cared about was the truck was out of warranty it wasn't their problem. They need to be made to take car of the things they know are wrong I'm sick of being ripped off by big corporations. If it wasn't for the consumer they wouldn't be a big corporation.
