Overcharges, disregard to Broward County Ordinances, verbally abusive to customers

This company is a scam, they prey on innocent victims of crime. They are rude on the phone and will cuss at you, call you every name you can imagine, and then threaten you. You will have to get the police involved to get your vehicle back. They overcharge for towing services.

The Broward County Florida Commisioners passed an ordinance regulating the involuntary towing of vehicles (ordinance 18). This regulates the hours of operation, location, required signage, and record retention policies that a tow company must follow. This company does not follow any of the regulations laid out in the ordinance.

Broward county administrative code 26.150 regulates the maximum rates that a towing company can charge for each class of towing. Statewide Discount Towing and Robert Seymour blatanlty disregard these laws and chage more than twice the legal amount for towing and storage.

Now on to my story. One of my vehicles was stolen in November. It was taken to Broward county florida by the thief. Nearly 10 months later it was reported abandoned and picked up by statewide discount towing and rebert seymour. They attempted to chagre me $350 for a tow that the administrative code sets a maximum charge of $100 for, he and his wife/receptionist then attenpted to charge me $48 per day for storage when the administrative code states the maximum storage charge is $24 per day. He and his wife are very rude people who cussed me out on the phone and told me they were goiong to sell my car at auction. I had to get 4 police officers involved to get my vehicle back.

I was still overcgarged by $175 and Robert Seymour tried to steal the keys to my car and the battery. The police were able to get these items back. His entire operation is a scam intended to extort as much money out of people as possible. If you can do business with another tow company I would strongly encourage it. If you are currently dealing with Statewide Discount Towing or Robert Seymour you should contact the Davie Police department auto theft squad, the broward county consumer protection office, and/or the broward county administrators office. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on the phone, eventually it will pay off. This man is a complete scumbag crook but he is legally not allowed to charge excessive towing and storage fees.
