I purchased a certified pre-owned 2007 Mercedes S550 in October from Mercedes of Westmont. Two weeks after the purchase I started experiencing transmission problems in addition to the vehicle's electrical and mechanical systems shutting off for about 1-1.5 seconds then the vehicle rebooting itself. During this brief time there is a loss of steering, all electrical components including the headlights shuts itself off.
I then proceeded to take the vehicle for repairs to Mercedes Benz of Baltimore who corrected the transmission defect but where unable to correct the electrical defect my vehicle still experiences. On November 10th, Mercedes Benz of Baltimore replaced the steering control module and the problem still persisted.
January 10th the vehicle was again dropped off at Mercedes Benz of Baltimore who again were unable to correct the problem.
January 18th the vehicle was dropped off again at Mercedes Benz of Baltimore who proceeded to adjust and replace the cam shaft magnet which did not solve the problem. Upon pick up the vehicle the problem persisted and I returned the vehicle back to the dealership and they re-opoened the service ticket and proceeded to replace the central gateway of the vehicle but still the problem persisted. 3
I returned the vehicle back to Mercedes Benz of Baltimore for failing to correct the problem after numerous attempts on February 11 who at this point had given up and proceeded to pretend that the fault did not exist.
I contacted MBUSA with a video tape evidence of the defect and my service record that detailed the failed service attempt and they still refused to acknowledge that there was a fault with the vehicle.
On March 8th, I dropped the vehicle off at R&H Mercedes to correct the same defect that Mercedes Benz of Baltimore was unable to correct and the were able to duplicate the defect that the previous dealership "claimed" that did not exist anymore and proceeded to attempt to correct the defect for the next three months.
During these 3 months I was still required to make monthly payments on a defective vehicle. After over three months of working on the vehicle including MBUSA bringing their own specialist to work on the vehicle the confirmed that the gateway for my vehicle was programmed incorrectly and that it was not a problem that was correctable.
MBUSA then proceeded to make a "low ball" offer to buy my vehicle back while still claiming that the vehicle was not defective besides the video tape evidence that proves otherwise and the mountain of evidence that suggest otherwise, and an acknowledgement by their specialist acknowledging the defect.
My vehicle is still sitting in the dealership parking lot since March 8 while the case plays out in court and MBUSA continues to collect $700 a month in car payments for a defective vehicle that is not drivable because I can not stop the payments which will ruin my credit and negatively impact my finances. Keep in mind I paid close to $50000 for this vehicle and it has been nothing but trouble since day one.
I was sold a lemon by Mercedes Benz of Westmont, and MBUSA has acted unethically in their handling of this situation. I would avoid buying any Mercedes product at all cost because if any thing goes wrong, your in for a long fight.
