Hostage of the Clueless!

"The Transmission Experts"? I think not. It is now one month and one day after I took my 2001 Ford Escape (not a 20 year old car from another planet) in for repairs on June 21. The initial evaluation and estimate took long enough - several days - but the 'rebuild' for $2200 was not completed until June 30th. But, my hostage drama continues.

I have had the car back for a total of 24 hours before the 'repair' failed and back it went to AAMCO in Frazer PA. I still don't have it back because:

Official AAMCO List of Excuses:

We 'missed' this piece during the initial evaluation.
We ordered the wrong replacement piece.
The piece won't be here this week.
We put it back together and it still won't work.
It's on the lift now.
I'll try to have it done in a couple of days.
The assembler had a personal emergency.
The assembler is missing in action and we don't know when he will return.
We don't have anyone who can assemble your transmission!
Another AAMCO shop is going to do me a favor and work on the transmission.
The other shop uncovered another 'thing' that was missed and we have to get a part for that.
We don't know how to contact the owner.
We 'think' the owner is going to 'resurface' today.

AAMCO corporate has been of zero help. They can't even find the local owner after a week! Only one customer service person could talk to me about my case and she was out for abpout three days - all while my car has been under house arrest in Frazer PA. I finally did the old certified letter to the COO of AAMCO. I'm not optomistic about the results.
