Will not refund deposit money if vehicle is not purchased Internet

On March 11, i used craigslist to look up autos for sale. I found one listed by Texas Direct Auto that fit my needs. I called to inquire about said vehicle, was asked for details to have my credit runto see about financing. I was also asked to give them a "deposit" for this vehicle, which ignorantly I did. At NO TIME did the salesman, Ray, tell me that the deposit was non-refundable if I chose not to purchase the vehicle. I decided against purchasing a vehicle from them, and asked that my 500.00 be returned—all I got was a run around from every single person I spoke with, and was told that the manager was a "busy individual" who could not be bothered with my questions regarding the deposit. I threatened to go to the BBB, a local news station, and the attorney general and was basically laughed off the phone—and told "not to waste my time or theirs", that I should have just purchased this vehicle.

I just want others to be aware that releasing your credit card info to anyone is a really bad idea, and I am now out 500.00 to prove it. I am not entirely sure how this is even legal, but somehow they manage it. Do not do business with Texas Direct Auto!!!
