After placing an item on Craigslist, I was contacted by Lawson Travis, asking if the item was still available. I said it was. He emailed me back that he wanted to buy it, unseen, as he was a very busy Us Marine (not US). He said he would FedEx me a certified check and that I should take $300 of the check and Western Union the rest to his shipper. I emailed him that all I wanted was the $200 for the item, and he should pay the person that was moving it for him. He said it was too late because he had already sent the check, and to please not let him down. Imagine my surprise when I opened the check and it was for $2200. I went to my bank and the manager there said it was a scam (which I already figured out) and that I should report it to my local police department. When I went to the police chief, he told me to destroy the check and have no more contact with Lawson Travis, which I did.
The day after I went to the police, Lawson Travis emailed me that he should report me. The next day, I received an email from him saying that he was going to report me to the FBI for scamming him. All I can say, is go for it! I've done nothing wrong, can he say the same???
