Mashodah Automobile Ltd
I ordered a vehicle online from a company calling itself Mashodah Automobile Ltd (Vendor). They had listed themselves on a website called Tradecarview (www.tradecarview.com) which is a popular website Kampala

Details about the vendor

The Company calling itself Mashodah Automobile Ltd (Vendor), an online car dealer, claimed to be based in Kampala, in Uganda according to their listing details on the website www.tradecarview.com (they are now de-listed). Now that the enterprise was clearly fraudulent, it is difficult to know if the details they gave about their physical address are true. However, they have made the following claims about their details through my communications with them (I will be quoting their emails messages in italics):

Physical address in Kampala, Uganda:

"We are located on Sunset Plaza, plot D723A, Floor #4 WESTERN
WING. Kampala City, Nakawa Close.

Regards,

Shafiq"

They also provided their phone numbers as follows:

"Tel: 256 757 729010/254 703 814 013.

This is during week days from 9;00am -5:00pm"

They also claimed that their stock is based in Uganda:

"The address we gave you is right, and our
stock yard is in Malaba, Uganda. You don't have to doubt us, let us do our work
because we totally want this transaction out of the way not this week. The
Accounts Department has delayed to send the DHL courier for your paperwork as
some of the documents had to be certified, but they will proceed with this
courier work tomorrow but then you will be receiving them Sunday. So let us
successfully close this deal as we don't wish to frustrate our clients.

However, on the invoice, they give the following physical address:

Plot M326, Platinum Building, Kampala City.

Perhaps the only verifiable information they gave is their bank account details because they acknowledged receipts of my funds. The details are:

Barclays Bank of Uganda, Ltd
Mashodah Automobile Ltd
Savings Account no: 6002318742

Another verifiable details is their email address because they have communicated to me through their email:

Mashodahauto@aol.com

Details of the fraud

I ordered a vehicle online from the Vendor. They had listed
themselves on www.tradecarview.com which is a popular website for selling and buying vehicles.

I sent the money to the bank account stipulated by the Vendor and the vendor acknowledged the receipt of the money. The vendor made many promises about shipping the vehicle to Malawi, and I have quoted one of the emails above, but after some time stopped communication. They did not deliver the vehicle at all.

Conclusion

I am trying to seek the the help of the local Uganda Authority, and anyone who can assist to track down the Vendor, so that they may be brought to justice. This is also to warn any potential clients of this Vendor about their fraudulent behaviour.
