Chesterfield, MS US Auto Protection aka Omnisure SCAM! Beware

In April I was sent a letter that stated my warranty was about to expire for my car. Being that my car is not getting any younger and I have had some issues in the past when my warranty saved me, I decided that the warranty was extremely important and should have it. I called the 1800 number and the guys told me the bumper to bumper warranty would cover such and such and was approximately $2,600. I told him that I could not afford a lump sum and he set me up on a payment plan. $136.00/month for 20 months. I felt like it was a lot but knew I had to have a warranty. Oh how naive I was. Thank God I only made one payment. Since I started to look at my new found payment as part of my car payment, I began to think "well since I am now paying almost $500 for a car payment I might as well just get a new car. I called my auto dealer and started to explain my situation to him. He told me that the warranty seemed fishy and to look into it. I called my maintenance guy from the dealership the next morning and lo and behold, my warranty was still valid! It was valid up until 100,000 miles!!! I was so enraged because I had been scammed. I called these people and they started to transfer me to managers and such to try to keep me. I wasn't nice on the phone and clearly stated to them I wanted it cancelled immediately and that they were scammers. They started giving me BS like "just becasue one guy said your car was covered, you're going to beleieve him?". I was like heck yes! He is my maintenance guy who has always taken care of me and my car, never with any problems. He can clearly see my warranty on his screen and I have been with him for 6 years. They finally got the hint after 10 rebuttals. I wanted to reach through that phone and strangle them. So turns out to cancel it, you have to send a notarized letter to them certified mail and you might get a prorated refund that can take 4-6 weeks. I am not counting on a refund and am just taking my loss. First thing to do is call and stop payment from your bank and then send the certified mail. If all else fails and the payments were set up through your bank or credit card, call and say the card is lost or stolen and the payments will automatically be cancelled since the card was turned off. I hope no one makes the same mistake I have. On the bright side, I only lost $136.00.
