Ignition Coil Inspection/Replacement Recall

Cars & Transport

In December I received a letter regarding the above title of my complaint. Over the fall of that same year I took my vehicle for a repair of the ignition coils as they failed and needed immediate attention. The tiiming of this letter was not good as I had just taken the car in for repair of this exact problem. VW stated in their letter if repairs were made to the ignition coils all receipts should be submitted for reimbursement. I complied with their request and sent all paperwork to them hoping to be reimbursed. Three months later a letter came to me outlining some double talk that the repairs exceed the amount they would pay. I received a check for approximately one third of the cost of the repair. There was nothing unreasonable about the cost of the ignition coil replacement including labor, of course. I frequent a trusted repair shop, understand much about the mechanics of a car and if I had brought the car to a VW dealership, the cost would have far exceeded what I was charged. My refund was a paltry $241.00 and my cost was close to $700.00. Unacceptable.
