Cars & Transport

Recently I applied for a loan to purchase a vehicle. My need for a car was due to promotion at work. I was moved to the position of Service Coordinator, for the previous 17 years I have been a field service representative. As Coordinator all work is done from my home so I was no longer eligible for a company car. The leasing company was allowing me to purchase my current vehicle, a 2007 Chev Impala at a cost below rough trade value. Wasn't expecting trouble getting a loan however between my less than perfect credit and the vehicle mileage being greater than 100,000 obtaining financing was much more difficult than I expected. Began a quick search on the Web to find finance, filled a online application and waited. With in a few hours i recieved calls from several Used car dealers, one of which was LLM Motors in Lancaster. The salesman asked if I was looking for a car. I clearly told him no, I have the car I'm looking for a loan and proceeded to explain the situation about my company vehicle. Expected the same answer other dealers had given in that they only do financing for thier own vehicles which made sense to me.in this case the salesman offered to look into it and see what could be done. He returned my call the next day explaining he couldn't get approval because of my vehicles mileage. He then went on to explain I could be approved for one of the cars in thier inventory.informed him I would still prefer buying out my company car but would contact him if I changed my mind. This was on October 19th. Every day after I got a call from him and on once from his Manager Rick. It took some time but I was able to get financing for my company car but when told it was at 22% interest I began to have second thoughts. I contacted the saleman at LLM to request a price on one of the cars listed on the web site so I could do so number crunching to make a final decision on my best option. He was happy to do so and after giving me the info I told him I would need a day or two to think things over. This was on Monday Oct. 25 On Wednesday the 27th Rick called me again. I thanked him for the help they had provided and imformed him that unfortunately I had decided to not purchase my company vehicle even though it was a ridiculous interest rate. Like any salesman he tried to convince me otherwise but when his pressure turned to insulting and degrading me I began to get very angry. He persisted and finally after one degrading remark too many I lost control said "f* you and hung up the phone. Not something I'm proud of but he simply pushed too far.incredibly he called back to voice his displeasure at being hung up on and continued to insult me. Having been spoken to the way was I decided to speak to the General Manager Jim Fogarty. Phoned Mr. Fogarty the following morning to discuss this what follows is our conversation.

Jim "Hello this is Jim Fogarty"Me "Hello Jim, my name is Tom Becker and I was wondering if I could have a few minutes of your time to discuss an incident with your dealership"Jim" are you the young man who told my salesman to f* off"Me" first I'm not a young man I'm 52 years old and I've never been so mistreated by a salesman before"Jim (louder) "did you tell my salesman to f* off"me "yes"Jim " well f* off" and he hung up.

Now I've been in customer service over 20 years and never have I seen or heard of this to be acceptable behavio
