Westbury Jeep Chrysler
Ripoff! Scratched my brand new car wrecked the paint & now say I never told them

Cars & Transport

I recently purchased a new Chrysler Crossfire from Westbury Jeep Chrysler. I was actually working for them at the time and had been looking at it since it came out, but, they didn't have any for employee sale until August.

I purchased the vehicle and brought it home and noticed that there were swirl marks all over the hood of the car and two scratches on the roof (both in the exact same spot on either side.

When I went into work the next day, I brought it to the attention of the prep department manager, Steve Clark, who then told me that they would have to fix the scratches on the roof but that "all chryslers come with swirl marks in the paint from the factory!" It must be standard equipment on them. He told me that "it's just more noticable because my car was black". I then brought it to the attention of some service advisors and the assistant manager who all gave me the same line.

Having been in the car business I knew that this was a crock, however I just decided to handle it myself. I then spoke to the sublet company that came in to do the touch up painting and he said he could get the scratches on the roof out, but nothing could be done to eliminate the swirl marks on the hood short of re-applying the clear coat.

Shortly thereafter my employment ended with the company on a more than sour note. I then took the vehicle to two other dealers who all agreed that in no way should the paint on the vehicle have those swirl marks and that it was obviously damaged when the vehicle was being prepared for delivery.

After a few weeks of my being away from the company, my husband called the service manager, Steve Scherer, to ask him what they were going to do about the situation. After playing telephone tag for about a week he finally got ahold of him and brought the vehicle to the shop for him to look at. He was told to get an estimate for the repair and fax it to them, which he promptly did.

A few more weeks went by and he hadn't heard anything from the dealer so he started calling again. He finally received a call from the dealer telling him that the vehicle was old and that I hadn't said anything when I worked there so we were out of luck.
(The vehicle was purchased in August & has 300 miles on it).

I was in charge of customer service for this company for 1 year. I have seen the despicable way that they treat their customers. They are masters of the bait and switch. They will lie cheat and steal to sell a car and couldn't fix a vehicle properly the first, second or third time to save their lives.

This company should be ashamed of how they lie to people and rip them off. They claim to be a Five Star Dealer, but I beg to differ.in reality they just plain stink.
