I had the misfortune of doing business with Concours Motors Inc today. I went to buy a car, and went to my bank, deposited cash, and had a cashiers check drawn in my own name, and went to the dealership and was ready to sign it over to them. I was rudely informed, that it was a 3rd party check, and as fraud was rampant, their bank does not like accepting such checks, and thus they can not accept it. Every customer brings them checks drawn to their name. I contested their judgement, so the owner appeared, and gave me the same spiel. He also claimed to have done many deals including construction deals, and has never ever used this method of payment, where he would take a cashiers check from his bank and sign it over to the business to consumate the deal. I have personally bought houses, businesses and vehicles the same way many times, and was surprised by his remarks and comments. I had heard many times from people that they were quite bigoted, but never had a first hand experience. I guess being brown makes you very suspicious and not trustworty. He could have just sent a financial manager or someone to the bank there and then to draw the cash, but then how would he have proved to be a racist? Welcome to Milwaukee.
A cashiers check in your own name at a deal only ensures you and saves you the hassle of having the party sign it back to you in case a deal is not completed and is normal acceptable practice in the mortgage industry and other business dealings. I guess Mr. Wustoeff has a big mouth but does not know much about dealing with humans. If you like to be treated in an unacceptable manner by a dealership, please shop at this place, Anyone with self respect. Stay away.
