Honda Honda repo'd my suv 24 hrs after i paid the balance in full threw speedpay!

Hello all! Ok here's my story... Every year at tax time in jan, i get my taxes back and i pay my car payments for a full year. Just incase i lose my job or something happens i wont get a repo. Well i have a 2005 honda element so its coming to an end on the contract.
I owe 3,700 dollars. Every tax time i give american honda finance corporation around 5,300 dollars to take care of the payments like i said. This year since i only had like 6 payments left, i called them in jan when i got my w-2's and told them most likely i will be paying it off, considering im buying a home soon and i dont want both car home payments, this was in jan. Well i didnt pay jan or feb payment because my taxs only take a week or two to come back and i file them right away. I admit i was doing bad with money at the time.
And when they came back it wouldnt be that late and i had no other choice because my hours were cut at work, so my credit report was going to just have to have the late payments reported.
