Folks, stay away from chaney's used cars. They are crooks. There are many buy here, pay here places that are not crooks, go to them. These people are crooks. They lie. They claim they can do whatever they want because they are a family based business. They are a florida corporation, doing business in the state of florida and whether they are a'family based business' they have to follow the laws of the state of florida. They do not! They are in the repo business not the used car business. They repo if you are one day late and turn around and sell your car immediately-you are not notified-per florida law and you are not given the opportunity to redeem your car-per florida state law and they do not return money for the difference of what you owe and what they sell it for-per florida law. These people think they are above the law and they prey on people who have to go to the buy here, pay here. This is their racket. I am not saying they do not have the right to reposess a car if people do not pay (even if it is just a day or two late) but they do have to follow the law and notify you and pay you the profit they make on your vehicle. The attorney general, state of florida has an online complaint form. If you do not have an attorney and cannot afford one-file a complaint. It is free. Also file a complaint with the department of consumer affairs. Do not let them take your money. They took your car and that is their payment-not the profit. Thta is yours. They will never give it to you voluntarily-so take a stand and get it back. The law is on your side.
