Shiftrite Transmission And Auto
Automotive Negligence

Cars & Transport

Eight months ago, (Septmember of 2008), I was referred to Shiftrite by my local mechanic shop. I was told at Shiftrite that my radiator was very dangerous and overheating. I was concerned for my safety and so agreed to pay more than $400 for a brand new radiator. The radiator which was installed had a 6 month, 6,000 mile warranty on it; however, 4 months from the date of installation it was overheating at dangerous temperatures again. So I took my car back to my local mechanic shop and the 'Sean' character, (who was the apparent manager then), was fired and a new crew inspected my car. They told me that my radiator was used, improperly installed and did not include the required coolant clearly stated on the descriptor sticker in front of the radiator.

In short, the mechanic shop that REFERRED me to Shiftrite informed me that my radiator in fact was not new and installed without proper coolant. I have the written invoice confirming the amount I paid for the new radiator with ShiftRite, the written invoice with the description of what condition my radiator was in eight months from time of installation from my local mechanic shop. I also took the liberty to hire a personal mechanic to dismantle my radiator and confirm with his expertise: how old my radiator is, the condition it should be after eight months, the impact of improper coolant installation as well as the damages throughout my vehicle's engine due to overheating and blatant automotive negligence.

Also, I returned to Shiftrite with my evidence of their negligence and instead of accepting the blame or perhaps offering to compensate my trouble and concern, I was shown the sticker on my radiator cap which when removed indicates warranty ceasure; they also confirmed that my radiator couldn't rust on the side because it is plastic. Well, as indicated a second time by my local mechanic shop, the black liquid spraying several feet into the air when they attempted to remove my radiator cap was evidence enough that there was rust and particles inside my radiator. Needless to say, I was unimpressed by the service I received from Shiftrite and I strongly recommend anyone who has received destructive 'service' from this establishment to take the time to review your evidence of automotive negligence and file suit as I intend to.
