Loyalty does not matter at Saturn of Smithtown

I am, or should I say was, a crazy loyal Saturn fan. I've owned five Saturns in 15 years. When I published my first book, Tattoos: The Ultimate Proof of a Successful Brand I included an entire chapter on Saturn. I have received all manner of love: balloons, coffee mugs, my picture take and laminated on a Saturn calendar - until now.

I know the company is going through a tough time - and I have been rooting for them.

Yesterday I took my 2008 VUE with 7,200 miles in to have three things done:

1. Fix a leak in the passenger side - when it rains the floor mat fills with water. Thought it was coming from the engine.

2. Fix the XM radio - completely dead. No signal (had this problem when I first bought the car).

3. Make sure the engine is okay - because the last time I took it to Saturn of Smithtown for a routine oil change, something was done right and two days later I ran out of oil! Oil and engine light comes on, sounded like a jack hammer under my hood.

Get a call from Tim, the service guy last night. (brought the car in at 7:30am he calls at 5:00pm)

1. We won't fix the leak because it's coming from your windshield and there's not a "GM Stamp" on the glass so it's not covered under warranty.

2. Yup - your XM is dead - not sure what's going on...

3. Engine seems fine but the guys at Springfiled, Mass Saturn (who fixed the oil problem) apparently forgot to replace some engine camp. Garnish he called. It.

How do I know that Smithtown didn't forget to put it on when they forgot to torque down my oil filter?

They have accused me of replacing the windshield. I did not replace my windshield. They are basically calling me a liar.

In my 15 years, and 5 car experience I've never even had a warranty issue. They're good cars.

I have lost faith - and as long as I live on Long Island I'm screwed. All the dealerships are owned by the same people. Apparently dishonest people.
