Cars & Transport

I made an appointment with the local GM dealer, NORTHWOOD CHEVROLET HYUNDAI after having a cycling P0045 and P2563 cel code. On arrival I was told I must sign a work order for $185.00 dollars for them to inspect the car. I ask if the warranty would cover this and was told that he could not say until after the check. Their check shown a radical current at the TC vane solenoid and I was told that it was covered by one of the two applicable warranties. I would be contacted when the parts arrived.

A week passed with no call so, I returned and inquired what the status was. I was informed that they had determined that the sensor was only covered for 36,000 miles and that the price for the sensor was $ 325.00 plus the inspection fee of $ 185.00 plus labor -and -wasn't positive this would fix the problem - that it could be the TURBO and that also wasn't covered under warranty.

I refused to authorize the work and requested copies of the paper work. They refused to give me any copies what so ever. I started to leave with the paper work in hand and was jumped by five of the staff and had to give up the paper work after a choke hold was placed from behind. I then called 911 for help. After the police arrived I did receive partial hard copy.

2005 California Emission Control Warranty
General Motors Warranty Coverage The California Air Resources Board and General Motors are pleased to explain the emission control system warranty on your 2005 vehicle. General Motors Corporation warrants to the owner that the vehicle was designed, built, and equipped so as to conform at the time of sale with applicable regulations of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), or to the California Air Resources Board stringent anti-smog standards, and is free from defects in materials and workmanship which cause the vehicle to fail to conform with those regulations during the warranty period.

For heavy duty gasoline engines, the warranty period is 5 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.
For heavy duty diesel engines, the warranty period is 5 years, or 100,000 miles, or 3,000 hours of operation,
whichever comes first.
Emission-related defects in the genuine GM components listed below, including related diagnostic costs, parts and labor,
Miscellaneous Items Used in Conjunction with the Repair of the Above Components are Covered
Emission-related actuators, belts, clamps, connectors, ducts, fittings, gaskets, grommets, hoses, housings, mounting hardware, pipes, pulleys, relays, sealing devices, sensors, springs, switches, tubes, valves, and wiring.

If failure of one of the components listed above results in failure of another part, both will be covered by this warranty.

I then contacted various Chevy dealers and simply ask IF the Turbo sensors were covered under the! 00,000 mile warranty and the answer was always the same WE DONT KNOW.

So. There is not a independent garage w/TECH 2 software to do the LEARN modes needed for a lot of the service repairs that will have to be done. So until I find a way to bypass Chevy I have a problem truck. PS the solenoid is $ 149.00 at Gmdirect. = BEND OVER!

You should "ALWAYS" Get proof of a service request!
