LasVegas Exotic Car Rentals
Insurance fraud, altered mileage on signed contract, loaded my personal cc with charges instead of resolving with my insurance company

Cars & Transport

Early January I took interest in renting a Lamborghini Gallardo from Las Vegas Exotic Car Rentals. Naturally, I was concerned about insurance on a $200,000 car. I called and spoke to an agent (Trich Trapp) who told me it was mandatory to take their full coverage auto insurance for $22.50. I thought about it over the weekend.

On January 5th I booked the rental of the Lamborghini and the agent requested my insurance information. I asked her why if I was taking their mandatory full coverage insurance. Trich's response was that they needed it as a drivers reference. Regardless, I was still going to take their full coverage. No insurance documentation or copies of the rental agreement were sent to me. On January 6th, I had a charge on my credit card for the rental, insurance, and taxes.

January 12th I met with two representatives from LasVegas Exotic Car Rentals. The manager, Gina pulled up in the Lamborghini and Trich pulled up in an Aston Martin, that she had just rear-ended someone in - the Aston Martin was a backup car in case I couldn't fit in the Lambo. This was the first time I had seen the rental agreement and they wanted me to sign that I was accepting the mandatory insurance (which appeared optional on the agreement) and to sign that I had received the insurance documentation for the Supplemental Liability Insurance. When I questioned that they didn't have any insurance documentation with them and how could I sign it... They mentioned that I had to sign it to take the car... And if I was refusing to sign it that I would have to pay for the rental of the car ($1,538 USD) because I didn't cancel with 72hrs notice... The jist of it was they could've rented to someone else. I was going to take the insurance anyways and it looked like I had no choice, so I signed it. I asked about a specific charge on my rental agreement under the insurance section, they responded that it was my mandatory collision insurance charge. Again, they had no documentation about the insurance.

2hrs later in a parking lot, an intoxicated driver backed into the Lamborghini. We got the guys information and LasVegas Exotic Car Rentals told us not to worry that I was insured through them and to call the police. The police showed up and filled out a report. LasVegas Exotic Car Rentals spoke with me again and told me to try and enjoy the remaining time of the rental and not to worry because I was insured. The damage to the Lamborghini was at the rear right fender and was the smallest of dents I have ever seen.

January 20th I noticed an additional $1,225 showed up on my credit card. I figured all was well and dealt with at that point except this mysterious charge. When I phone LasVegas Exotic Car Rentals to enquire about the charge, they saiid that it was for damage to the car because the driver that hit me wasn't insured. I asked about their mandatory insurance that I took. All of a sudden, they changed their story... They said I never had collision insurance on that car and that they couldn't get ahold of my insurance company so they were charging me personally.

January 21st I saw that they processed my full $5,000 preauthorization deposit against my credit card. They also FOR THE FIRST TIME emailed me a copy of the insurance that I had asked about on January 6th. I was also sent a final bill indicating a line item for "REPAIRS $1,225" as per the previous charge to my credit card. I was furious! That day I also saw a $330 charge to my credit card. The $330 was for mileage exceeding the 100mile allowance. At this point I noticed that they had changed the original starting mileage on the signed contract to put me approximately 160 miles over the limit, thus incurring the charge.

January 22nd, I finally got ahold of the manager Gina Stoddard who informed me that the damage to the Lamborghini was actually about $14,000 and that the $1,225 was for one days loss of rental on the Lamborghini Gallardo. I was told that I was going to be charged daily for this. When I asked about the mandatory insurance they sold me and asked why the misinformed/misrepresented/outright lied to me... She hung up the phone.

They refuse to answer emails and phone calls. I am currently working with my credit card company to reverse the charges. I'm pursuing this company through the Souther Nevada Better Business Bureau, Nevada Department of Insurance, and the Las Vegas Police Fraud Dept. It's a slow process and I've learned a lot.

The biggest issue is that this has turned into a "he said, she said"... My word against theirs. Although I do have the email where she sends me the insurance information for the first time and I do have all the documentation with the changed mileage. The biggest factor is they put my family at risk financially for this car by not providing adequate insurance for a $200,000 car. Furthermore, they are attempting to charge me or my insurance company wrongfully for $14,000 in damages and $6,225 in loss of rental for this car.

At the time of the rental I was cornered into signing this agreement. Sign it and take the car... Don't sign it and we'll charge you for the car. They broke the law changing the mileage on the contract... They broke the law by not providing insurance at the time the information was requested on January 6th when they charged me for it... And most certainly by not providing it upon request at the time of the rental on January 12th. They also cannot hold a deposit by Nevada State Law if the damage to the vehicle was unintentional. I believe I will be filing a lawsuit once I clear up the credit card mess with these crooks.

There is a reason this company is not listed with the BetterBusinessBureau. Stay away from them, but if you are wanting to rent an exotic car in LasVegas PLEASE call them up and tell them you are not chosing them because of the Lamborghini incident from January. Rent from a respectable company like Rent-A-Vette instead. At least they are listed on the BBB and appear to be honest.
