I took my 2007 Dodge Ram truck in for an oil change and inspection. During the service, the brake fluid was low but they wanted to charge 8.75 to add 4 ounces of brake fluid. I elected to perform this maintenance item on my own.

The inspector failed my inspection for "low brake fluid". I told him I will go add fluid to bring it within tolerance and return. He said he wouldn't pass the inspection because the brake pads were "low". They are within manufacturers tolerances, they do not have degraded performance and meet all safety requirements. The safety inspector at this inspection station is making up his own rules.
