Rebate check returned for non-sufficient funds

I purchased a promotional sale of "Slime" tire products with the promise of an $11.99 rebate. I took the rebate form and filed it timely and when I received the rebate check I deposited in my bank account. Several weeks later my bank returned the check to me with the explanation that it was returned because the account was closed. The date on the rebate check noted that it would no longer be honored after December 28. The check was deposited in Novemeber and returned to my bank on December 1.

Everything required for the rebate was done in a timely manner. Additionally, I was charged a $9.00 returned check fee by my bank.
