Do not go anywhere near this place! It is a bait and switch!

We were in the market for a new car. Due to the current financial credit situation in th US we couldn't obtain financing through traditional sources. I went online to Chartercar.com. They claim to get you financing... No problem. I filled out the online application and rec'd a call in about 10 mins from a woman named, Julie, and she said she was from Lending Source. She claimed I was approved for a certain amount of money and to come down with paperwork to finalize the deal. I told her I had already found a car and she said that was great... That they would deal with our choice of dealer and finance the car.

My husband then called her and asked her more questions... She again said that we could get the financing and go to any dealer we wanted for the car. We were not obligated to buy a car from them. We asked this multiple times. We went to their offices, Esco Motors in Lodi, NJ. We walked in and asked for Julie... She said she would be there until 9pm. We were met by a man and told Julie "wasn't there but he told about our loan". Then he tells us that we must purchase the car from their lot... That they don't finance cars out of their lot. This was a total contridiction to what "Julie" told us. I wanted to get up and leave right then... My husband went outside w/the guy to look at cars.

At this point I called "Julie" from my cel phone, they answer the phone "Esco Motors"... And said Julie wasn't available... But to hang tight and she would be there shortly Right then I knew this was a scam. Then the guy and my husband came back in and when my husband asked how much a certain car was the man couldn't give him a price. He had to call the bank first. Then he asked for all my documentation that "Julie" asked me to bring. Like a moron I gave it to him... And he made copies.

At this point I had a terrible feeling that these people were not reputable and we were not to do business w/them. We decided to leave... My husband went up to sales guy who was making copies of my information and asked for it all back and we said we were leaving. They got very defensive and then his manager came over to "talk" to us to see what he could tell us to make things better. I looked straight at him and told him that they were "scammers" and we were leaving and that this place was disgusting. Luckily we didn't lose any money... But we did leave there feeling that we almost allowed ourselves to be scammed. Stay far away from these people... They are bad news... Do not do business with them.
