D & D Automotive Services
Rip off, bad workmanship, will not back thier work

Cars & Transport

I brought my daughter's car in for a brake inspection, and work as required No Problem there. I got what I paid for.

I received a call from the service station, stating the all in one fan belt should be replaced.
I approved the replacement.

With in 5 weeks I ended up having to drive 45 mile to pick up my daughter at 2 am in the morning Her car died on a very lonely road in Wilmington, NC. She told me her head lights got dim and then a car stopped.
I brought another battery, and we got the car home.

Next morning I looked under the hood ONLY TO SEE the Belt I had just paid to have replaced was destroyed.

I then went to D&D Automotive Services and spoke directly to (David Coulter) the owner.
I showed David the situation, he then tried to state it must have been the alternator, or Air condition compressor.

We check both and each were in good working order and free wheeling. He then stated I was one week past his warranty date. I told him this was clearly a case of a poor belt instillation.

I told him if he did not want to stand behind his work, I'd just take the car somewhere else to be fixed properly. David stated he would call me when it was ready to be picked up.

I received no call, so I stopped by the garage, to obtain a status. I was told the car was ready. There was no mention of any required payment, so figured the man as honest and was standing behind his work. They in fact gave me the keys.

I went home to get someone to drive the car back to my home. When I returned to the station, I found someone had blocked the car in by placing another car in front of it.

When I went in the office, I was completely ignored, and made to wait 15 minutes.

It was only after I asked a repairman for some help, a woman came to the desk. I told her I had come to pick up the car, and it was blocked in. She then informed me I owed her an additional $75 to replace the belt. I restated my conversation with the owner.

She told me if I wanted my car I had to pay the $75. She stated it was out of labor warranty, she was the owner's wife, and that was that".

I asked what about the warranty on the belt itself. She repeated I had to pay An additional $75.

I told her I was very dissatisfied and would not be coming back. She made it clear, she could not care less.

In net, I would not recommend this company to anyone. This is a man who will not stand behind his work.

Just a quick by note: In talking to another mechanic while waiting, he told me the guy who work on my car had been fired.
