Don't let them rip you off too!

Cars & Transport

We purchased a used car from your dealership on 07/01. I'm writing you this letter because we're very displeased with the salesmanship and service that we have received. The car has several things wrong with it and the salesman (Larry Decker) refuses to fix them. We didn't get to test drive the car before we signed the papers because we were told it was "still in the shop".

We were also told that a couple of parts had to be ordered and it would only take a couple of days and we would be called when the parts came in, so go on and take the car. We were also told to write down everything that we found wrong with the car and it would be fixed when we brought it in for the ordered parts.

We called four or five times asking for the Larry Decker and got the run-around. We even called his cell phone and someone answered and said they didn't even know him. When he finally answered the phone he told us that the parts were in and to make an appointment to bring the car in and it would be fixed.

I brought the car in and was told to drive around to the service desk. When the Larry finally came around he told me to go and fill out some paperwork for the repairs while he made copies of my driver's license and insurance for the loaner car. I showed the guy at the service desk the list of things to be fixed on the car and he told me I would have to talk to the salesman because they probably won't fix these.

When the Larry came back to give me my license and insurance, I gave him the list and he told me that he can't fix them. He told me that he would only install the parts that he had ordered.

I told him that he told me to write down everything that was wrong and he would fix it. He said that he wouldn't and that he would let us look at another car if we didn't want that one.

We don't want another car... We want this one fixed, as we were promised!

I didn't think a reputable company like McGavock's would use these deceptive trade practices. Firstly, we weren't allowed to test drive the car (It was always "in the shop", and nothing got fixed). Secondly, the salesman verbally told us to write down everything that we found wrong with the car and he would fix them. Lastly, who do you know that doesn't let customers test drive a car before they purchase?

I know that we aren't high-end customers, but we expect to be treated with the same dignity. To top it all off the loaner car had an expired inspection sticker!

We have purchased over 15 vehicles from everyone from Dan Davis - Fort Worth to Alderson Cadillac over the last 20 years and have never experienced salesmanship and service like this. We have never bought a car that we couldn't test drive to find the problems, and be told that they wouldn't be fixed.

Here is the list of the problems with the car:

* Right Rear Window won't come down.
* Needs front end alignment.
* The Onstar buttons need to be glued (we were told this would be done... But it wasn't).
* No spare key.
* Right front wheel center cap is missing.
* Fog Lights don't work.
* Key gets stuck sometimes because car isn't going in park to release the key (this is dangerous because car can roll!)
* Left Brake Light is out.

We drove the car 2 weeks and the power steering pump locked down and broke the belt. Now the car won't run.

I gave this list to Larry Decker and he told me he couldn't fix any of these. If we had test drove the car and found these problems and he wouldn't fix them, we wouldn't have purchased the car. We were deceived.

The car was overpriced in the first place. The blue book value for a 2001 Cadillac Catera is $3600. With the inflated interest rate (24%) we are paying the total price is $8300. Now we are paying this much for this car and can't get anything fixed??? WHAT A RIPOFF!!!
