Daniel Ibarguen & Windsor Auto Body
Two months to repair two dents... And still don't have my car!"Should be done next week." That's what he said when I brought it in

Cars & Transport

So here it is.

I brought my 2007 VW Passat Wagon into Windsor Auto Body, in Windsor CA, on June 5th. When I arrived I was met by the owner, Daniel Ibarguen. He looked at my car to inspect the damage. I had a dent in the rear passenger door, and a dent in the hatch door in the back of the car. After about ten minutes, he let me know that it would be easy, and should take about a week, week and a half at the most.

Keep in mind, this is the short version.

Two weeks later, I called Daniel to check on the status of my car. He informed me that he had just found additional damage to the car, and it would take another week. This seemed odd. He had my car for two weeks, and is just now finding additional damage. When the insurance company went out to check on the "addition damage", they found that he had replace the door with a used door, when he had charged them for a new door. He had also replaced the hinges, which had not been damaged in his original estimate, with used hinges. The additional damage he was reporting was not found in the insurance company's original photos of the vehicle.??

After a week of leaving two messages a day, by both myself and my insurance company, we learned that the shop had been closed and that no work had been done on my car in this time. I continued to leave messages on Daniel's cell phone, work phone, and with the receptionist, to no avail...

The only updates I was able to receive would be through his receptionist informing me that my car would not be ready, and that yet again they had found additional damage. (after approx. 25 days in the shop.)

After a MONTH, I was told, by the receptionist (because Daniel still had not returned any of my calls) that the reason my car would not be ready was because the insurance company was not paying them. Now the insurance company had been calling me once a day to update me on the progress of my vehicle. Like me, they had not been able to reach Daniel in weeks, and had left many messages. They informed me that they had paid for the repairs, and that Daniel had sent them additional invoices and supplements far exceeding what was needed for these simple repairs. (As he had stated himself in the beginning.) The insurance company faxed back their supplement, and had not heard back.

Its now been over a month, actually close to six weeks, and still no word from Daniel. I decided to drop in to see if I could catch him. When I arrived the receptionist told me he would be in this morning, so I waited. "Any minute" she said as I waited 45 minutes. Someone else came in, a glass guy, who was there to pull the glass out of the hatch door of my vehicle. Now the receptionist must have thought I was outside as I was sitting out of view, because when the man asked her if Daniel would be in, she said no, and that he would be in tomorrow.

I then walked over to her and asked why she let me wait hear for an hour when she knew he wasn't coming. She said she was trying to get a hold of him, and that she was sorry. Just then the phone rang, and because I was standing right there, it was apparent it was Daniel. I asked for the phone, and asked him what was happening with my car, why haven't you called me back, and when can I have my car back. He said that he had not received any messages, a lie, and that the insurance company was not calling HIM back. So until he can talk with the insurance company and get the work approved, he couldn't work on my car. THEN WHAT THE HELL WAS THE GLASS GUY DOING WORKING ON MY CAR?!!

After seven weeks, I arranged for the insurance company to meet me at the shop to talk with Daniel and get everything out in the open. I called the shop, Daniel wasn't there of course, so I told the receptionist the insurance company and I would be there to take a look at the car. Magic. Daniel called me! He asked when we were coming in. I told him 2pm, and he said great. I get there, the insurance company's there... No Daniel. Although he left paper work with his receptionist for us. Coward.

As we look at the car we discover very little has been done. Not to mention my new car has been sitting outside, with no doors on for almost two months... The interior looked like sh@t! And there was a NEW crack in my front fender! I notice throughout the entire inspection, the receptionist is talking quietly on the phone while observing us. She was talking with Daniel. I asked her if it was him on the phone, she looked at me with a blank face, and I asked to speak with him. Before she handed me the phone she whispered "Sorry" to him. I asked him why he wasn't there and he said, " I'm out of the office." NO SH@T! He then said they would have my car ready Friday, in three days. I said fine, and hung up.

Friday, Daniel actually calls and says it should be ready this afternoon, around 2pm, and that he would call to update later. I arrange for a sitter to watch my kids at 1:30, so that I could go pick up the car. Daniel does not call. I call the shop and get the receptionist. She tells me Daniel has been out for three days and my car should be ready next week, and that they just ordered some parts that morning. I tell her what Daniel told me just that morning, and she says she'll call him. I call her 20 min. Later and she says Daniel said he never told me that, and he said he would call me to explain the miscommunication... No call.

Its Monday today, no word from Daniel, my car is not ready, the parts haven't arrived, my car is still not even assembled...

I have filed a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repairs, contacted my insurance company, written this complaint, and have left yet another, this time angry message with the shop, and Daniel's cell phone.

Apparently this is not unusual at Windsor Auto Body. The receptionist had told me that I was the nicest person asking for their car back, and that some other people swear at her and come in everyday, others yell on the answering machine
and threaten them... You would think with so many angry, unsatisfied customers this would be brought to light sooner, and someone would shut this place down.

Don't go to windsor auto body, daniel ibarguen his a dishonest coward!!!
