Very Poor Business Ethics and Policies

I finally have a chance to tell my story about the poor way this company does business.

Several years ago, a supposed "friend" stole our business checkbook. She wrote 2 checks, one of which she wrote to David Bruce for $10,000. She forged my name on the signature line.in the memo line, she wrote "Name's Truck", using her real first name.

The David Bruce Auto Company accepted the check as a down payment on her new truck. They never contacted my husband, me, our business, or our bank to verify if the check was valid or if the money was available. They simply deposited the check and gave her the new truck.

When we discovered the theft and forgery, I contacted a gentleman at David Bruce Auto. I was told that at no time did anyone try to contact us or our bank to verify the signature or if the money was available. I asked why we were never contacted. The gentleman stated that it happens all the time; they receive checks all the time from persons other than the person buying the auto. He said they had never had a problem doing business this way. I told him I felt this was a very poor way of doing business.

We did not lose money on this deal, as we worked out an agreement with our bank. However, I feel that David Bruce Auto should have at least apologized to us. Every time someone mentions going to them to look for an auto, I tell them our story.
