Cars & Transport

Well, lol, I bought a new 2001 Kia Rio and never had any real problems. That is until I hit 103,000 and was driving down the freeway when I heard a click and the engine died. I had it towed to my mechanic and they told me the engine had seized. I had regular oil changes, etc. I called Kia Corporate thinking they might want to honor the warranty even though it is 3000 miles over. Nope. So instead I will post this every where I can. Buyer beware. Besides being junk, the car is generally quite uncomfortable and those 103,000 miles took at least 5 years off my life. Oh and good luck trying to get any warranty service out of Kia. The only thing I was able to get out of them was a wiper repair. For everything else I got a runaround and it generally was not worth the time or trouble to deal with them. Spend the extra 3G and get a Honda or a Toyota, at least your odds have gone up. Also I might add that it appears as if engine seizure is becoming a common problem in these vehicles and that a majority of people still in warranty coverage are having the engine replacement denied. SHOCKING And to the naysayers saying we Kia owners didn't follow proper up keep of the vehicle, then I say I must have missed the class growing up where a timing belt can break on a freeway, kill the engine completely and leave a person stranded. It is just a miracle that as far as I can see no deaths yet have been reported. I assume it is just a matter of time, as these cars are just started to age and mature.
