If we don't fix it in 30 days... You're S.O. L!

Cars & Transport

My wife recently purchased a car from this place with the typical problems you get with used cars. Fast Lane by law has the 30 day warranty wherein they are required to fix whatever is wrong with the thing to make it workable (which arguably they should do before selling it but that's another story.) The ABS system had issues from day one but the real joy of working with them was what happened next.

Over the course of the next month the car was taken in once a week for the ABS system and each time she was told there was no defect found. Not trusting this she took it to a reputable mechanic she'd known who was fond of doing the job right. The second opinion mechanic found 11 error codes in the car's computer which means Fast Lane flat out lied. The car was examined the day after Fast Lane said no error codes were found in the computer. This mechanic cleared the codes, cleaned some corrosion on the wiring harness and had to have us test drive it a few days to see where the real issue was. The next time the ABS light came on it was taken to Fast Lane again, and again no defect found, a second lie. The next day it goes back to the other mechanic who finds a single error code directing him straight to the faulty ABS sensor on the front drivers side wheel bearing. We take the part in along with the bills for the two diagnostics and part to Fast Lane for compensation.
By this time it had been over a month of course. Fast Lane offers a pittance of the manufacturers cost of the wrong part from a different make and model car which was cheaper, and no labor. We promptly filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau who clearly did not read or care about our report as they accepted Fast Lane's rebuttal of, and I will quote this directly..."Sue from the company responded that they feel the consumer should have brought the car back to them when the problem was found. The repair would have been done at no charge. The problem was only showing intermittently that is why they did not find it. They have already given a refund and will not refund any more."

I will note this as lie number three as the car was taken in four times in as many weeks for the same issue which was not addressed, on top of the prior two lies about actually checking the diagnostic computer which was clearly not done.

Given the time and labor cost of small claims court and the chance of success with our endless appeals system I will settle for making business miserable in any legal way I can for this fly by night company and their low grade grease monkey staff.
