Bait and Switch!!! Rip-Off - Faulkner Nissan!!!

I took car into a professional auto shop to have engine light scanned. Scan registered issues with Oxygen sensor ($190 parts labor). Took into FAULKNER NISSAN in Harrisburg for service. Faulkner service counter took 30 minutes to help me. I told MARK F. WAGNER that the car was not functioning properly, was bucking and appeared to slip into gear sometimes. Mark, service tech, only wrote down on the service form that I was having transmission problems. FAULKNER NISSAN scanned my engine light and identified a transmission problem, which magically did not appear on the earlier scan that day. The transmission tech failed to diagnose the issue after 1 hour. Mark called and said I had to authorize 2 additional hours of "diagnostic" time to find the problem, at $90/hour. Received call back saying that they had diagnosed my problem and that the transmission needed serious repair. They also offered me a prioritized list of additional recommended repairs - such as O2 sensor, replace squeaky belts, brake repairs etc (despite the fact that my car was inpected 1 month prior with no recommendation of the same). I authorized repair of transmission, b/c I just wanted my drivability issues addressed. I get a call after repair was completed from PHIL WINSTON, service manager, who says that my car was running horribly, because the 02 sensor needed to be replaced. I asked what the car was doing - he said it was "bucking and shifting hard" - the exact reasons I took it in to get repaired in the first place!!!

The company refused to budge, required me to pay for a "repair" to my transmission, and the car still ran terrible. I declined to have the 02 sensor repaired there, since they are clearly incompetent.

A simple repair to the 02 sensor would have saved me $500, but they instead recommended a repair to my transmission and the primary cause of my driving issues.

I ultimately took my car to an honest mechanic, who, by my description and a simple tests drive, was able to identify the issue as 02 related, without any prompting on my behalf. The part was replaced in under 15 minutes and my issues with the car resolved immediately.

FAULKNER NISSAN essentially looked until they "found" a "transmission" problem because they knew that transmission repairs are more costly than fixing an 02 sensor. They prioritize the repairs they complete for economic gain, rather than to address the consumer's issues.

It was a simple bait and switch.

Do not buy from this dealer!!! Do not seek repairs from this service shop!!!

Beware!!!
