Carl Colen Smog Fraud and Rip Off

On 10/03/02 my son purchased a used vehicle from Winding Road Motors.in the state of California the seller of the vehicle is required to smog it. Upon arriving home, we noticed two HUGE holes in the exhaust system, and several in the muffler and tail pipes.

I had worked in the car business for many years; mostly in the service department. The knowledge I have of smogging vehicles would be scary to most. I phoned Mr. Colen (butthole is more like it) and asked him where he got the vehicle smogged. Mr. Carl Colen told me it was done at the most "stringent" place in Santa Rosa.

Once again I asked for the name of the place, he refused. I asked him if he was aware of the holes - he did not respond. I asked him if he was awared that a vehicle could not legally pass smog in the state of California with all of those holes. His response was "Too bad, so sad"

I've filed a complaint with DMV, the Bureau of Automotive Repair, the Better Business Bureau, and HERE on complaints. This man doesn't deserve to sell another vehicle. We paid $2500.00 for the vehicle, had to spend $260.00 on exhaust work, then found out the radiator was full of rusty water, which may or may not have a poor effect on the engine.

Warning to ALL car buyers - take it to YOUR own mechanic before plopping down the money like my kid did. Winding Road Motors is winding alright, winding himself up in a web he'll never be able to eat his way out of.
