Kia's suck largest rip off ever!

Cars & Transport

I purchased my 2002 Kia Sportage new. Within months is was back to the shop because the of the "check Engine" light was on. Well over the course of almost 5 years the light and oxgen sensor was reaplaced three times. Shorthly after that the blower motor on the heater started rumbling. Then it was the rear window wouldn't work, that happened twice. Then there was the recall for the fan blade. Then some valve went on the rear brakes and started leaking fluid. After that it needed new brakes front and back.

I took it in again for the oxygen sensor and the dealership was trying to get me to buy another one. The new style had come out. When I asked the salemen how much for a trade in he said maybe $1500 if I was lucky. Then when we went to talk to the sales manager to see what my payments would be, I said no I didn't think so, he told me "I'd change my mind when I came back in a few months when the timming belt goes". Can you believe that one.

Then just over a year later more front brakes. The straw that finally broke the camel's back was the differential. At just over 76,000 I had stopped at a store got back in the kia and it was making a really strange noise. I had to pull over thinking I had a flat time or that maybe someone had hit me in the parking lot. Nothing. Took it into the dealership they said it was the differntial, and that the fluids had not been changed. Yes they were but because I couldn't produce the paper work they wouldn't cover it under the warranty nor the extended warranty which we also purchased. I had taken the vehicle to two different dealerships and both had went out of business and when I moved out of state most of my paper work went missing. Well bottom line, if I couldn't produce the paper work it was going to cost me $1200. Well we picked up the car the next day and then took it to a ring and pinion shop and they said it was the drive shaft and u joints. Then we took it to another shop they said it was the center bearing. So we called the dealership and told then what the other two shops had said and they said they take a second look at it for free, the first time cost me $92. So they looked at it again, said the same thing. We asked if they would do anything for us. The service manager said he could get ahold of the Kia rep and see, well they had my kia for almost 3 weeks, never once did they call us to say they were still waiting for the rep to come out. We called like every other day or every 3 days. Finally I got made and place a call to the Kia Corp out in CA, explained the problem to him, he called the dealership while I was on the phone then got back to me and said that the rep had told my husband that it was a maintence problem not covered. No one had called my husband, and I told him that. Without the paperwork showing we had the fluids changed they weren't going to do anything. So about 2 hrs later I called my husband and told him to call the dealership and act stupid. The service manager told my husband that he did get a car from Kia Corp and he told them that they were still waiting for the rep to come out. A bold face lie - how dare they!
So I them their warranty along with the company make a sh*tty product.
When we went to pick the car up guess what? It even had a flat tire and of course it was closing time and no one helped us. Then to find out during the time the dealership had it, the dealership was sold. Well I'm happy to report that I got rid of that piece of shit and never every again will I even think about purchasing a Kia. The extended warranty didn't cover anything. A total rip off. I was lucky enough to trade it in on a used GMC van with enough money to pay the stupid thing off. Bottom line don't waste your money, don't buy a kia
