Cars & Transport

I bought a used vehicle from Tyson's ford from Ebay. I realized that the vehicle would be sold as is and expected the vehicle to not be in perfect condition. The ad stated that the engine worked well.

After having the winning bid I called Chris, the staff member, to make arrangements to pick up the car. During the conversation I asked him if there are any other problems that he was aware of the I should know upfront besides what was mentioned in the ad. For example, if the clutch needed to be replaced etc. Etc. He stated it had no other problems.

The next morning I realized that I had not seen an inspection sticker on the vehicle. I called Chris and asked him what was going on. He stated not too worry that he would have it taken care of it before I got there to pick up the car. He gave the impression that it would pass inspection.

I arrived to pick up the car and noticed that it now had a rejection sticker in the window. I asked Chris about it and he stated that they are not a BMW dealership so he doesn't know anything about the car.

There were so many items on the sticker that they had to write on the front of the sticker. I asked Chris to come and look at the car and read what the sticker listed as wrong with the car. He was hesitating to even look at it. Only after insisting did he look at the sticker. He did not even read off all that was wrong with the vehicle.

After leaving with the car, 5 miles from the dealership the engine light came on and stayed on. There is a smell of fumes from the vehicle. I called the dealership but could not get into contact with Chris.

I am very displeased with this purchase. I was fully aware that the vehicle was "as is" and expected there to be minor issues. I did not expect to get a car with engine problems (it was advertised as having a well working engine) and so many issues that it can not pass VA safety inspection.

I would not recommend this dealership as it was deceptive to not disclose that the vehicle would not pass inspection and that it had engine problem. They had to have been aware of the engine problems as the light came on 5 miles from the dealership when I picked it up.
