UNSAFE practices LYING about parts that were IN STORE ripoff Charleston

My story begins when I was in Morgantown, WV and hit a pot hole with my tire. My car is a 2001 Audi TT sportster. I checked out my tire after hitting the pothole, but it was dark and I could not see any damage. I brought it to my parent's house in Charleston, WV where my dad noticed the wheel had been damaged. I made an appointment with SEARS automotive for later in the week, and left my car in Charleston.

My mother took the car in for service, and was told that there was a 'bubble' on the tire and it would not be covered under our road hazard insurance we had purchased with the company, since I had caused the problem with the tire. They looked at the tire and such and said they did not have the ultra low profile high performance tire that my car needed at the time, so they sent my mother home to order the part.

So my mother gets home and my father looks closer at the tire. There was a HUGE bubble on the tire and could have caused a blowout at any time! Plus, the tire had not even been removed from the car for inspection, showing that SEARS never even looked at the tire! The tire was very unsafe and if blown, could have caused an accident for my mother and my 6 year old nephew who was a passenger in the car. My father called the store and, of course, had quite a bit to say about their unsafe practices, and for letting my mother drive the car, even though their 'inspection' should have proven it to be unsafe and would not be fit to drive.

The supervisor was then placed on the phone and had informed my father that the company DID have my tire at the store in the first place! The company did make it right, and gave us an upgrade to our road hazard insurance and gave us 50% off our tire. However, if the tire had blown out, no amount of money could replace the death of my mother or nephew. BUYER BEWARE, ask questions and make sure you know your stuff before going to SEARS tire and automotive. It could cost you a lot of money, or worse, your life.
