One Stop Motors
Nice try, but I didn't buy it

After I listed my cars for sale on the internet, I was contacted by One Stop Motors. I didn't take the first call, but called them back later and left a message. They called me back and told me all about the service. I was then handed over to another salesman who described how the advertising worked (top 3 search results on Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc) and that it was a $499 one time fee and the ad ran until the car sold.in other words, too good to be true. He also told me that I was listing my car for too little and that he would get me top dollar for my car because they worked with banks, offered warranties, and we're nation wide. Again, I was skeptical.

What really set me off was the "hard sell" approach of the second salesman. Classic approach, start with the "nice guy" giving the basics, then hand it over to the "closer" who basically treats the conversation as a done deal. I told him that I wanted to talk it over with the wife, who would undoubtedly say, "no, " and I would get back to him.

Instead, I investigated their web site for cars like mine (2003 Lexus ES). I found a grand total of five cars listed; disappointing to be sure. Next, I checked the photos. This was the most telling piece of evidence. The photos were time stamped. One showed it was taken in September. Another ad showed a date of January. The ad was over two years old.

In all, it's worth your time to investigate anyone who promises the world over the internet, especially using hard sell techniques. I avoided losing $499 to these guys. I suggest you think twice as well.
