Drivetime, Ugly Duckling They took my hard earned money and sold me a car with a bad engine

Cars & Transport

In February I purchased a Jeep Sport from Drivetime. On June 30 a young lady ran through a red light and hit my frontend. While the damage was being repaired, the engine stopped.

I had an insurance adjuster, a jeep dealership and the drivetime people to check it out. Everyone agreed that it was the engine that needed replacement because of wear and tear. I had only driven the jeep four months. I had had two oil changes because of my two hundred mile a day travel time. I explained this to the sales people and they assurred me that the jeep was what I needed. I was told that the engine would cost me One thousand five hundred dollars. The first week of September I gave drivetime seven hundred eighty dollars to start work on my engine. I felt that they should pay because I had had a six month/six thousand mile front to back warranty. I was of course pass the mileage. They refused and told me that I had to pay half if I wanted the car fixed. I had been paying for a rental after the first thirty days of the accident. I was paying my full coverage insurance, the car payment, the downpayment and one thousand one hundred dollars on a rental each month. I stopped paying the car payment after three and a half months. Everytime I called to ask the ststus of my jeep I was told that I was not the only one who needed her car repaired. Each call gave a nastier reply. I stopped calling after being told that it would be done in seven business days and that the person that I was talking to would put a rush on it. I knew just what she meant. Once I missed my first payment they called every contact on my list to try to get me to pay the $130. It did not work. I recieved a letter and called the office on a Saturday and was put on hold when I began to complain.

Yesterday, November 16 a young man knocked on my door and left a letter because I did not answer it fast enough. The man took out a camera and began to take pictures of my house and rental car. I opened the door and he introduced himself and I told him my story. He took a few notes and left. I called drivetime and told them that I would not pay another penny on the jeep. I also told them that I would did not want the car now, I should have been given a replacement. I would never drive a car that needed four and a half months to repair.

The young lady, Felicia said the they could have helped with the money that I had paid out. She asked how much I had spent and when I told her over $4,500 she asked me to send the proof. She never gave me a fax number so I waited to hear from her again. The man with the camara was next. I guess I better look for another car at this point. My work requires a dependable vehicle.
