Forgot to close account - credit now screwed! Ripoff Birmingham Alabama

Cars & Transport

My husband and I bought our first car in Jan o6 right after we got married. We financed through Wells Fargo because that was the preferred bank of the dealership. We refinanced through USAA (which we LOVE!) in April 06.

When refinancing the new bank sends the old bank a check for the payoff amount of the vehicle. USAA sent the check out right away and Wells Fargo processed the check... Right away.

To make a long story short, Wells Fargo has (until a few days ago when they received a very unpleasant phone call from me) left this account OPEN.

We went to trade in this car for a new vehicle last week and our dealer told us we already had three vehicles on our credit. Turns out Wells Fargo made a little boo-boo and forgot to close our account so our credit reports now show 4 vehicles when in fact we only have 2.

We just moved so purchasing furniture and appliances has been very difficult because our credit was never good enough (?) Even though our income is very high and we pay all our bills on time, if not early... Hmm strangely that didn't seem to jive - but it all makes sense now.

Currently, by our credit report, my husband and I are about $30,000 more in debt than we REALLY are.

Thanks Wells Fargo for screwing our credit and making our lives harder than they have to be.
