In September of 1998, I had just gone into labor with my first child. Not thinking we could be financed through a regular car dealership (you should always TRY first), we went to Ugly Ducking.

The salesman, manager, and finance manager knew I was in labor and we were having a baby. They sold me a worthless vehicle anyway.

Luckily, we had money in savings and used my husband's truck for a down payment. (We needed the cash for the repairs).

We bought a 1991 Oldsmobile for an outrageous price but it looked nice and drove fine on the test drive. I didn't drive the car for 2 weeks after I bought it because I had a new baby at home.

The very first time my husband and I took the vehicle out, we went to the movies. After the movies, the car would not start.

I was away from my baby for the first time and had a panic attack. Luckily my mom came and rescued us quickly and I had tow insurance so we had it towed to a respectable place for car repair.

We needed a new transmission which was going to cost $1300. I called Ugly Duckling's manager who did not care.

He advised me to bring the car in to them and let their mechanics fix the vehicle at half the price. I told him that the respectable dealership told me he would say that because Ugly Duckling would put used parts in my vehicle so it would have to be repaired again (with probably more problems).

I fixed my transmission for $1300 and luckily nothing else went wrong.in a year we traded it in at Ford dealership (with a huge negative equity) but at least we were out of that vehicle.

Ford told me they would have approved us if we would have gone there prior to Ugly Duckling. Boy did I learn a lesson.

A lesson that is still bitter almost four years later!!! You better believe that my family, friends, and anyone that mentions Ugly Duckling already knows my story.

Ugly Ducklng should be put out of business immediately! If anyone knows how, I will gladly join the battle!
