I recently took my vehicle ('04 Jeep, 32k) into Frank Griffin Jeep for a clutch repair. The mechanics at the dealership stated I needed an entire clutch assembly and quoted a price of $881 plus tax. After speaking with the service department repeatedly, I was told the item is a wear and tear part that was not covered under warranty.

I had the vehicle taken to Aamco after speaking with the staff and explaining what the dealership had stated. I was contacted the next day by Bobby (Mngr), who told me the actuator was bent causing a problem with the slave cylinder. Bobby quoted me a price approximately one-half of what the dealership wanted if their shop did the repair. Bobby then told me that he checked with the parts department for the dealership and verified both parts were still under warranty. Bobby recommended that I have the repair done at the dealership so the repair would not come out of my pocket unnecessarily.

The repair ended up being performed at the dealership after my vehicle had been towed three times in one week and having to prove it was a warranty item to the dealership.

Accolades and applause to the guys at Aamco for helping me in a time of need and being honest about the necessary repairs needed on my vehicle. Also, for going that extra step to verify the parts were under warranty and telling me.

Condemnation and disapproval to Frank Griffin Jeep for misdiagnosing the problem and in my opinion poor customer service. For the record, the service manager at the dealership was very apologetic and helpful after the error had been pointed out but to consider this experience as the most horrific contact I have ever had with a dealership is an understatement.

Thank you again to the guys at Aamco (103rd Street)! My current and future vehicles will be taken to your shop for repairs and I will pass the good word around to anyone that asks!
