People's Mitsubishi
Dealer service department is absolutely incompetent Ripoff

Cars & Transport

I purchased a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse from another dealer who has since sold their dealership to someone else so they are washing their hands of any past sales. The paint job on my car is oxidizing all over and my black car now has huge white patches all over it. It looks like I'm driving a cow and it's clearly a defective paint job. According to reports on the Internet, this is a common issue with black Mitsubishis of this year. So I took it to the new owners of the old dealership and they said it was clearly defective but that they didn't have a body shop who could help me so they sent me to People's Mitsubishi who did.

So I took the car to their Service Department and they told me that the base warantee was expired and that the extended warantee did not cover paint. I showed them the car and pointed out it was a clearly defective paint job. Every time I show the car to someone they freak out it looks so bad. So then I'm told by one of the Service people that I need to bring the car back and talk to Dominic Santora who is their Service Manager. He is the only one there who can approve such work. So I ask if he is there and he isn't at that time. Because the dealer is so far away from where I live an work (about a 30 minute drive 1-way) I want to call to see if Dominic is in before I drive all the way over. I leave messages for him spread out over five days and never receive ONE phone call back. Not one. He never answers the phone and everyone in the service department plays stupid when I ask to have him paged. He's the Invisible Man so it seems.

So out of frustration I drive all the way over there and see if I can find him there in-person. He's not there when I arrive (again, Invisible Man) and so now I'm told that he is NOT the person to see... He has no authority over such matters. The person I really need to see is the "Mitsubishi Rep". This person is only on the property 1 day a month and only for 4 1/2 hours when he is there. So, a week later, I bring my car back to meet with this person and after waiting for him to return from lunch, he inspects the car along with several of the Service Department cronies. He says in just a matter of seconds that he approves the repainting of the entire car because it's clearly defective paint. So now I'm told to bring back the car on another day so that the body shop can write up an estimate to submit to the corporate Mitsubishi offices to be reimbursed for the work. Two days later, I return at a scheduled time and the body shop staff writes up an estimate. I'm never given any paperwork on this mind-you. I'm just told it's taken care of and 30 minutes later I leave. I was also told that I would receive a call from them within "A week to a week-and-a-half" so that I can schedule a time to bring my car in for a paint job.

It is now exactly one month later and no call, so I start calling them again. Much to my surprise, the "computer" shows no record of me ever being in there for anything. The body shop has no record of ever doing a quote for the car and Dominic (Invisible Man) is refusing to return any of the voice-mail messages I have left for him on the matter. I have also left messages for the General Manager who also does not return my calls as well. Every message I have ever left has been nice, polite, and just inquiring as to status so it's not like I'm some screaming lunatic on the phone. A more unprofessional organization I have never dealt with in my life and People's Mitsubishi are the epitome of what people think of when they think of sleezy car dealerships. All I want is to have fixed what has already been promissed me.
