Sold a car with too many problems

Cars & Transport

I need an advise for what kind of action which I can take. It's regarding buying a second (maybe third or more) car. On Feb 14. I bought a Nissan Altima 1996 from that dealership (Greensboro, NC). I looked at the car, see some little dent and scratch. But, I was fine. That's what used car have. I did a test drive. To me, It was fine, look like runs good. But, I'm not savy in this testing stuff.

So, I bought the car for $2750 plus admin. Fee, comes to total of $3020. I told the dealer if the car was good enough for me to drive to NJ. Well, he said was going to be okey.

Then on Feb 18. I drove to New Jersey (cuz I got a new job there). I was driving for about 100-200 miles (not sure), I feel the car cannot go faster than 50 mph, especially when I came to an incline road. On, straight and decline, It's fine. I kept driving. Then after I reach, NJ, the problem becomes worst. When, I push in some gas, the engine was coughing and, It won't run faster than 30-40 mph.

So on Feb 20, I put them in Nissan mechanic shop (engine light was on)... And they was charging me $2500 for gasket-cat, cat converter, oxygen sensor and front cover oil seals. Well, of course, I was furious at that moment. Try to reason with the dealer. Even, he said that I could get the repair for 700 bucks only. He told me to get the car to NC, to be inspected. But, nothing came up. Then, I decided just to swallow it up.

But, again... On April 10. The engine light was come on, and I went back to the same mechanic shop and was charged $300 for front oxygen sensor. Again, I swallowed it up. This time I did't call the dealer.

Now... May 17. I was about to go home by 6:30 pm, and I found my car was DEAD. I couldn't even start it. I even ask help to jump start the car, it didn't even work! I can still hear to the radio. I think it should say that my battery was fine.

By now, I can have nice Honda for 5000 bucks.
FYI, the mechanic shop runs full diagnostic on my car, everytime I went there (2 times).

I need some inputs regarding this situation. Is it I'm being stupid to be ripped-off by the dealership? Or this mechanic shop also taking advantage? Can I do something? Or I just need to deal with it.

I know that I sign the "AS IS" form at the dealership, but even "AS IS" should be reasonable, right?
Also, I saw "Vehicle Inspection Receipt/Statement" from State of North Carolina.in there, it said "Catalytic Converter PASS""Exhaust System PASS" "Oxygen Sensor PASS"

It not like the dealer handle you junk, then they can live happily after that. Or it's just the way.
I'm not a fuzzy customer. But, I think this is too much.
Any advise is appreciated.
