I was looking at a 1993 Grand Am GT they had for sale on their lot, which is right next to the post office is where I receive my mail. I went in to look at the car & decided to test drive it.

It's white, with tinted windows; looked pretty good. I left that day & continued to car shop. The salesman, an older guy named Ed called me repeatedly trying to work out a deal so I would buy the car.

Per Ed's request, I went back into the shop & they slashed the price so I would buy the car. I signed all paperwork & ended up buying the car.

What a nightmare! Within 3 weeks of owning the car, it needed its first major repair. I needed a new radiator & hoses, etc. The mechanic was concerned with massive amounts of sealant that were found in the cooling system. It was his belief that the head gasket or gaskets were blown & the sealant was added to mask the problem until after the sale.

Not long after that my transmission blew. Upon a different mechanic's advice, I called New Concept back. The owner, Joe Vela's, son answered & I explained all the problems. His response was, "If it's not under warranty, then it's not our problem".

I tried to explain that I understood his end, but to build a good business you should honor your product. I was told to "have a nice life" & got hung up on.

I feel that New Concept Auto Exchange knowingly sold me an unsafe car in poor condition. They saw a young girl wanting a car & threw the bait. I've had the car less than a year & spent more on repairs than I did on the car. I'm still paying the repair bills in monthly installments for a car that barely runs.

New Concept has recently remodeled & expanded. I'm convinced that they got that money by ripping off more naive people like myself. There should be a lemon dealer law set up in our state. I don't know how Joe & his employees sleep at night.
