Cars & Transport

Our nightmare with Mel Clayton Ford is still continuing, but I plan on getting a lawyer to deal with them now. My 19 year old son had $1000 to put down on a Ford Ranger. He had a job that qualified him, no other debts AND a cosigner from another state. Our ordeal has been going on since MAY and it is now AUGUST 13th! They spot delivered my son into the truck (which I did not know).

The paperwork "shuffle-scam" began immediately. Papers had to be fed-exed - then they "didn't receive them" - then they had to be redone because they had added without permission an extended warranty for $534.00 to the contract and I crossed it out. Why would we need an extended warranty on a brand new 2005 truck?

After at least 15 phone calls that went unreturned from the "finance-ripoff" department and the sales person "who no longer worked there", another trip was made to the dealership. His trade was still not paid off, eventhough they said it was. A copy of the contract was supposed to be "forthcoming", but it still has not. We were told that Ford Motor Credit was financing the car. After 3 more weeks of trying to contact them unsuccessfully, we made another trip in.

They NEVER returned ONE phone call. TOM, a finance manager, was "not in", but we spoke with "Marilyn", another finance manager? She said that "there certainly was something wrong with this deal" and that the car had not been financed. We said that we were very concerned about both my son's and his cosigners credit rating because we had not been told who to pay for the car and how much the payment was. She said it was "impossible" for their credit rating to be affected, because the car had not been paid for by ANY finance company.

Now Bank of America is contacting my son and saying they are going to repossess the vehicle because of non-payment. We made several trips to Mel Clayton Ford trying to find out WHO DO WE PAY FOR THIS CAR??? Marily assured us that she would "get to the bottom of this" and contact me after the company's 7:30am sales meeting the following morning, which of course she never did. I have written letters, which remain unanswered and left more messages. Bank of America says I need an account number to pay them, and we do not have an account number because we have never received even a copy of the contract, let alone a payment book or invoice of any kind.

I would advise ANYONE even thinking about slowing down in front of that place to speed up and keep going! If anyone is interested in a class action suit, please contact me as I definitely plan on obtaining legal counsel for this matter immediately. They are ripoff artists, liars and cheats - and the general manager, "Mark" is either never there, too busy, or probably non-existent. We are trying to PAY FOR THE CAR and we don't even know who to pay. Tom, Kevin and Marily in "Finance" just pretend you don't exist after you turn over the down payment. I can't believe Ford hasn't shut them down, but of course, their no better. Sorry I didn't buy GM! Will know better next time!
