On Sunday July 3rd my husband found a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan ES through cars.com at $5988.interested in getting a great deal my husband and I printed off the offer from the internet and rushed to the dealership.

It was already closed but we went onto the lot and verified that it had the same VIN and stock number as the internet offer which it did. They were closed the next day since it was the 4th of July.

The next morning I called the dealership and we went down to see the vehicle. Gary, the salesman asked us how much we saw the van on the internet for. We told him we saw the price as $5988 and we had printed the offer.

He stated that there was a problem with that price but that he would have his GSM Brian take a look at it.

Gary came back with the finance person named James. James stated that there was an internal error with that price and that the advertising company had made a mistake. I asked if they would honor that price and James stated that it was an internal error so they would have to go through their system but he would honor the price. He did not say this once but three times and in the presence of Gary.

We went back to the finance office secure that we would get the $5988 price. James proceeded to get all my husband's credit information and to have me call our previous financing company so that they could fax him a payoff letter for our truck.

After he gathered all this information James came back and said that his GSM Brian would not go lower than $7988 on the van since there was a problem with the stock number. I was extremely upset at him telling us this AFTER my husband's credit had been checked. I don't care if its a soft hit or not in the end it's a hit.

My husband more concerned with me having a van for the kids offered to go up to $7000 but was still refused. The price was $7988 and there was no budging even though we had been told the price would be honored three times. I left extremely upset.

Still upset I called Brian the GSM and lodged a complaint with him about the changing of prices. Later, I got a call from Gary after we left that my husband had left his license at the dealership.

My husband, again more concerned with getting me a van, found a Mazada MPV at Keffer Hyudai at 10955 so we went to take a look at it. It was there that we found out that Jim Keffer the owner of all the Keffer dealership was actually at Keffer Dodge which was coincidentally right next to Keffer Hyundai.

We spoke with Mr Keffer and he apologized for our treatment and personally walked us to the used car section of his dealership. We obviously still wanted the 00 Grand Caravan we had seen but were told that the van was actually in the middle of a deal so they could not sell it to us anymore. Mr Keffer appointed a specific salesman and finance man to take care of us as fast as they could.

We signed a contract for a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan ES at $11995.

The next day I recieved a call from Gary asking if we were still interested in the 00 Grand Caravan. Surprised that it was still available I informed that we had already purchased another Grand Caravan.

We went by to pick up my husband's license in the afternoon and were told that Gary had the license but that he was in another building. I came back later and asked for Gary again. I was told he would be there " in five seconds."

I waited quite a while before I got impatient and asked one of the other salesman if Gary was physically carry the license in his pocket. That's when they decided to look in his desk and found the license there.

We went home to find a message from Greg another salesman ay Keffer Jeep stating that he saw we were interested in the 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan that we had seen on cars.com at $5988 and to come down to take a look at it.

I almost fell through the floor when I heard the message and realized that they obviously were doing nothing to rectify the situation about the "mistaken price" which I am almost convinced is just a ploy to reel you into paying the higher price after they check your credit.

I don't think Mr Keffer personally realizes the extent of the issue occuring at this other dealership but I will speak to him tommorrow on this matter and update my report then.
