Package bouncing around from sort facility to facility

I must say I've heard some shipping horror stories using USPS but have never been part of one before, this isn't to say that they are usually reliable but the fact that i do whatever i can to avoid them. I recently purchased a very expensive pair of sneakers that happened to be shipped via the postal service and was unhappy the minute i saw they would be shipped this way and instead of being proven wrong, my doubts in them have been confirmed. The package went out on a monday and said they would arrive on a Thursday which doesn't seem bad but the package was coming from a place that would have ended up being a 3 hour drive, this although annoying isn't the main issue. The bigger problem involved the updates and actual shipping of the product. The product arrived in my state a meer 3 miles from my house on tuesday after it was shipped and stayed in that facility until Wednesday morning when it said it was on the way to the destination but it did not say that the destination wasn't my house but back to the origin state. When i called the postal service customer service line they had no notes or idea to why this happened and it wasn't stopped by me or the sender. The package is still sitting in a sorting facility without an update for over a day. The postal service has been no help in solving this or even looking for the reason. I have heard that certain postal services will be shutting down and honesty now i can see why. If you must ship something out i urge you to use UPS or even FEDEX.
