Ganley Ford-Norton - First Extended Warranty
Ganley Ford - Norton - First Extended Warranty Ripoff After Selling Warranty Refuse to Honor Claims

Cars & Transport

I bought a used 2003 Ford Taurus last in July. It had just over 20,000 miles on it. I was assured when I purchased the car that the car had been serviced. Mike Sandy, the finance manager, sold me an "extended warranty." He talked it up like it would cover everything and I'd have nothing to worry about. At 44,000 miles the transmission went bad. I followed First Extended's directions, and since I had no choice as to where to service the vehicle, I took it to the dealer.

They took the transmission out immediately. This was done to make sure they got to charge me for the repair and I had no choice to shop around. Then they decided to tell me that First Extended Warranty Company would not honor the claim since I didn't change the transmission fluid at 30,000 miles. I was told by 3 transmission specialists that changing the fluid at 30,000 would not have saved this transmission. It was a defective part. If they didn't try to deny the claim for that reason, I have no doubt that they would have searched till they found any excuse possible not to honor their committment. Then upon doing some research, I found out that the dealer actually insures against repairs. I verified this by reading the small print. They use the name First Extended to make someone else look like the bad guy.

This means that it is in their best interest to deny claims. Reputable dealers use disinterested third parties to insure against repairs. So I met with the finance manager. He didn't want to give me the time of day.in his mind, he had made his money off of me. I said I wanted the 1795 I paid for the so-called warranty refunded immediately. He refused saying not in his power. He did not offer to introduce me with the decision maker. He did say that he himself never changes his tranny fluid either. He had no intention of helping to resolve this matter. My point is, this is the person selling these warranty's and he does not point out the small details in the warranty's.

To all, please read the small print, and shop around. The warranty's purchased through the dealers are expensive and garbage. The dealer actually is the insurer and they use First Extended to administer it and be the bad guy when they screw the customer.

In my case, I have a friend who is influential and he called the general manager to straighten this out. So it turned out good. But most people don't have connections or they don't pursue this. Ganley Ford is out to screw the public!
