Frazier PA Taking advantage of stranded out of towner with transmission problems

My mother drove down and her transmission died. Had the car towed to Aamco in Frazier after talking to Lou (the manager) on the phone. Lou was very pleasant over the phone, told me he would do everything he could to get it fixed that day. After the car arrived, he didn't call me even though I asked him to, I had to call him. He replaced a line, but said he still wasn't happy with how the car was running and that he would need to look at it on Monday (by this time it was 5pm Friday).
On Monday, he didn't call, and had to call him instead. He said that he would have to rebuild the entire transmission and that it would take several days.
After giving him permission to do the job, we found usacomplaints.com for the same location and decided to get our car back. We went to the location the next morning, when it was only Lou at the store. When we got there, the car was parked in front of the building, though he said he would begin work on it the night before. Lou was no longer friendly, but was very angry that I was there and wanted the car back. He told me that he could not let me take the car. He gave me the run around that he needed his techs to look at it. I specifically told him that I was willing to pay for the work that he had done up to that point and that I was asking him to not do anything more. I would drive the car off the lot no matter what condition it was in. He told me that he could not allow me to do that. He made me wait for his techs to come in, and then he tried to bring the car into his garage.
I told him that if he started up the car I was going to call the police. Suddenly, he was willing to let me take the car. He said that the transmission pan had no gasket on it, but I told him I would drive it anyway.
I paid him for the work he did, and we left. I took the car down the road to Cottman transmissions and they did an excellent job and were very friendly, helpful and understanding.
