Monday, April 19, 12:26 PM (date and time on the ricket) myself and daughter-in-law had lunch at 555 Saratoga Ave, San Jose, CA. Presented with our meal expense at $30.74. I entered $6.00 for tax (20%). Did not review the ticket after my credit card had been presented and the waiter took my card and ticket for processing. After arriving at home, I noticed the $6.00 I entered on the ticket had been crossed through and the Total amount of the ticket was $39.74 charged to my credit card. A $9.00 tip would have equaled out at. 2927%. The $6.00 tip I preferred to leave equaled out at. 195l% which I thought was generally accepted. Is it practice for Applebees to change the amount of tip the guest wishes to leave? The service was great, the food great — the fact that my tip was increased by $3.00 was disturbing! PLEASE RESPOND. Thank you.
