Steve Peterson Wanted big expensive order, refused to pay shipping and then we found the ROR on him

I was contacted by Steve Peterson of "Network International". He claimed to run a high end catering business in Scottsdale that wanted lots of organic steaks (our specialty). I explained the difficulty in obtaining the quantities he wanted but he persisted.initially he said he would pay for shipping up front and pay upon receipt, but later said it was net-15.

When I asked why I couldn't find him on the internet, he said he hated the internet and refused to use it. I asked for a reference and he gave me the name "Jerry Foster" of "Wholesale foods" at 602.512.5047. When I called that number, "Jerry" answered "Whole foods" but then said he had sold $3,000 worth of product ("canned goods, ice cream, pasta...") to him previously and been paid. [when I called back when I discovered the scam, he answered as a different name]

Several days in a row Steve called pushing for shipment. On the day we were to ship, I discovered the rip off report filed here, and called the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce. They had no listing for Scott, the Supperclub, or Network International — it didn't exist as a business as far as the State of Arizona was concerned. I tried reaching Scott to get him to pony up for the shipping (and put down a deposit) but he didn't answer his phone & until 30 minutes after the time I told him we needed to ship! He called saying "what's my tracking number?" When I told him I hadn't been able to confirm he was an actual business, he huffed and puffed and said "we don't do business with people we can't trust!" and hung up.
