How much did you really tip your waite

This pass Friday, July 18 my daughter, a friend and I went to celebrate my daughter passing her driving test at the Red Lobsters on Cobb Parkway, in Smyrna. We enjoyed our dinner and upon getting the tab, I carefully zeroed out the tip line, wrote in the amount of the tab (without tip) and left the tip in cash. Thinking this was pretty clear I didnt think much of it. Well being on a budget I always check my statement online for charges made with my debt card the previous week and go figure they added an additional $5 (which is the exact amount I left in cash); but I zeroed out the line. I mean, I literally wrote a zero and drew a line through it; and since I write pretty big there was no mistaking what I wrote. Who authorized this charge? Since this has cleared my account I am a bit bothered that this happened, regardless of the amount. I did not authorize this anything about the amout of our meal.

I called the restaurant, ask for the manager (Davy James general manager). Mr. James spoke with me briefly as I explained why I was calling; then he put me on hold and didnt return. He had someone else come on the line to ask for my name, telephone number, and the check number and said Mr. James was busy and would check into this and call me back. This I thought was unprofessional, and 24hrs later he has not returned my telephone call.

How many times have restaurants gotten away with these $5 - $10 over charges? Since most of us dont check for these types of incidentals they probably get away with it more times than not. Im just saying How much did you really tip your waiter? Until this is resolved this waiter got a $10 tip.

Needless to say, I will pay with cash regardless of the restaurant going forward.
